Located in the windy Patagonia
Argentina’s president Cristina Fernandez has officially opened her country’s largest wind farm in Patagonia, reports Merco Press. The wind farm called Rawson Aeolic Park will generate 80 MW.
The location of the wind farm is advantageous, since the climate in Patagonia is windy, and the landscape is flat. So far the wind farm comprises 27 turbines, with a 50MW capacity. Another 16 will be installed next year.
“Diversifying the Argentine energy grid is a strategic mid and long term task for Argentina”, Merco Press quotes Cristina Fernandez as saying during the opening ceremony which took place last Friday.
