JingkoSolar plans to resume production after protests
Published: Wed, 2011-09-21 13:11JinkoSolar Holding Co. said that it is investigating the possible pollution from its PV production facility in Zhejiang, eastern China, after violent protests from local residents. JinkoSolar admits that a subsidiary to them might have discharged a small amount of solid waste into a nearby river.
“In response to the concerns of local residents and in full cooperation with the local government’s investigation, Zhejiang Jinko has temporarily suspended production at its facility in Haining until the impact of any possible environmental damage has been assessed and remedied,” JinkoSolar states. An initial investigation conducted by the local environmental protection authority indicates that the issue may have been caused by the company’s transitory storage of waste.
