Germany may double land for growing biofuel crops

But food production must be given priority, minister says
According to the German newspaper Passauer Neue Presse, German Agriculture Minister Ilse Aigner have said that the country could almost double the land it grows crops on for use in energy generation, to about 3 million hectares by 2020 from 1.8 million hectares today.
But food production must prevail over the growing of plants to be used in the energy industry, the newspaper cites Ilse Aigner as saying.
